Read With Me
Dear Parents/ Guardian,Assalamu Alaikum Reading to your child or having your child read to you has tremendous benefits such as spending quality time together, increasing your child’s vocabulary, introducing him or her to the wonderful world of books… the benefits are too numerous to name here. “Read With Me” is a yearly school library program that runs for ten weeks. This program is offered to preschool, senior kindergarten, and grade one students. This year, the program will start Monday, February 17, 2014. It will conclude on Sunday, April 27, 2014, inshaAllah. On Tuesday, February 11, 2014, your child will receive a reading log sheet, a calendar, an article on the benefits of reading to your child and tips on how to read aloud with your child. The way the program works is the following: The reading program runs from Mondays to Sundays. After each daily reading, the parent fills out and signs the reading log sheet. When the child completes the log sheet (on Sunday evening), he or she returns it on the Monday and gives it to me. When I receive the reading log sheet, the child receives a new one and the cycle continues. At the end of the program (April 27, 2014), he or she receives a Reading Certificate, a bookmark, and a book; however, to be eligible for the above-mentioned items, all ten reading logs must be returned in order to complete the program. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me at the school or via email. Jazakum Allahu Khairan for investing in your child’s academic success. Happy Reading!
