Weekly Update (May 19- May 22


Theme: Community Helpers المهن


Arabic Language اللغة العربية:
-  We are done with the letter م ( محمد، مايا، مهام، ماء، مسجد، ماعز، مثلث، مِرَشْ، موز). 
- We used the 3D Masjed I made for my son’s project to tell the story of the letter م.

-  We are done with the community worker’s theme and will start the planting and bugs theme this week, Insha’Allah.
- French Cafe was a nice experience. Jazakum Allahu Khyran French team for organizing the event and for all the yummy treats.



Science العلومand Arts الفنون:
-    I would like to thank Tr. Amina (the school’s science coordinator) for purchasing live caterpillars for our JK, SK classes. It is an amazing opportunity for all the students to observe the life cycle of the butterfly.
 We took the opportunity of having double art periods to ask for the help of Tr. Naz (Jazaha Allahu Khyran) to place the caterpillars in place and prepare the food for them. Students can not wait for the caterpillars to form a cocoon and come out of it as butterflies.

 

Math الحساب:
-    -   Students were introduced to patterns. We have been reading simple patters on our Calendar, now students are ready to make and read their own patterns.


Coming up:
- Bike Rodeo postponed till June 2.
- PD day for teachers (No school for students) on June 5.

-Backyard Bugs Workshop on June 19.

Weekly Update (May 11- May 15)


Theme: Community Helpers المهن

 عن عائشة ، أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال : إن الله يحب إذا عمل أحدكم عملا أن
يتقنه
The Messenger of Allah p.b.u.h. said:" Allah loves that whenever any of you does
something, he should excel in it." (Hasan, Reported by al-Bayhaqi)



Arabic Language اللغة العربية:
-  We are done with the letter ل ( ليث، لونا، لينا، لينة، ليمون، لحم، لسان، لاما، لعبة). Students tasted the real lemon to co-inside with the letter ل. They loved the sour taste!


- Students are working on coloring pictures of our handmade community helper’s book (مهندس، بناء، كهربائي، مزارع، طيار، خباز، خياط، نجار، مُدرسة، رجل المطافيء، جزار، ضابط، طباخ، طبيبة، ساعي البريد).

- Community day was a success, Alhamdulilah. Students had the chance to meet a figher fighter, a lawyer, a nurse, a police officer, and go inside the fire truck.


- Our roof top picture was taken, Alahmdulilah. JK2 were sitting in the first raw. Everyone is so excited to see the picture! We ended the event with a picnic in the public park! Our very first picnic this year!


- Our annual staff picture was taken as well, Alahmdulilah!

Science العلومand Arts الفنون:
-     Both the JK1 and JK2 made the chick hatching from the egg craft. JAK Tr. Hiat for the idea. Students worked really well making it after having a discussion about the life cycle of the chicken.

Reminders:
-      Please remember to send extra clothes and leave it in the green box outside the classroom in case of accidents. We noticed that most of the students have no extra clothes in their boxes.

Weekly Update (May 4- May 8)


Theme: Community Helpers المهن

Arabic Language اللغة العربية:
- We reviewed the alphabets (ص – ك).
- We started discussing the neighborhood and the community helpers. We read some nice stories to relate to that.
- Students are working on coloring pictures of our handmade community helpers book (مهندس، بناء، كهربائي، مزارع، طيار، خباز، خياط، نجار، مُدرسة، رجل المطافيء، جزار، ضابط، طباخ، طبيبة، ساعي البريد).
- Our trip to the farm was very exciting, Alhamdulilah.


Science العلوم:
-      Students have been observing the fertilized eggs, and counting the days waiting for them to hatch. We talked about how the eggs will hatch, and made a chick hatching craft.
- The great news are... the eggs hatched, Alhamdulilah! We have 13 cute chicks alive in our classroom now!

 Math الحساب:
-      Students learned how to identify, count, and write number 8.

Arts الفنون:
-      We started building a big mini city diorama. Students started taping, painting, and gluing cereal boxes and other items to build the city.

-      Please remember to send extra summer clothes and leave it in the green box outside the classroom in case of accidents.

Weekly Update (April 27- May 1)


Theme: في المزرعة  Farm Animals



Arabic Language اللغة العربية:
- We are done learning the letter Kaaf (Kaaba, Kalb, Koala, koob,).
- Students are being assessed in their recognition of the Arabic alphabets and 2D shapes. Assessment sheets will be sent home soon, Insha’Allah.
- Students enjoyed being part of the talent show. JAK to PST for arranging this. It was very entertaining and fun.
- We enjoyed baby Summaya’s visit to our classroom. Masha’Allah she is getting bigger!

Science العلوم:
-      We talked about farm animals and their food. Students worked on matching the picture of the animal to the right food it eats.


 Math الحساب:
-      We are learning the concept of one to one correspondence. Students are counting and matching the number of objects that are the same.

What’s new:
-      Sand and water table is finally here. Students are having tons of fun playing with it. We added some toys so that student can have some sea animal hunt J
Gym:
- Starr Gymnastics was a great opportunity for all the school. Students enjoyed being part of it and felt super excited going from one station to another. Thanks to PST for arranging this!




Reminders:
-      Please be reminded to send a box of baby wipes with your child as we ran out of wipes. Students use the wipes for cleaning their hands before eating their morning snacks.
-      As the weather is getting warmer, please remember that sandals, slippers, and shoes with laces are not allowed in school.
