Weekly Update June (15-19)

Theme: Ramadan رمضان


"  يا أيها الذين آمنوا كتب عليكم الصيام كما كتب على الذين من قبلكم لعلكم تتقـون" ( البقرة آية 183)

O you who believe! fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may guard (against evil) ". (Albaqara 183)

Arabic Language اللغة العربية و التربية الإسلامية and Islamic Studies:

- Alhamdulilah. We managed to finish all the Arabic alphabets before the end of the school year. Students learned the letter ي (يوم، ياسين، يد، يعسوب، يويو، يوم الدين).

- The students took the initiative and went to every classroom singing Ramadan Nasheeds and praying for everyone to have a blessed month!

- Jazakum Allahu Khyran to all of you for the yummy treats you contributed to our  Ramadan Party! 


- Bubble day was so much fun. Jazaka Allahu Khyran to Maham's father who brought extra bubbles for all the students.


Science العلوم:

- Backyard bugs workshop was an amazing experience for all of us. I hope you enjoyed the bag of gifts your child brought home last Friday.





- Students were happy releasing all the butterfly free after they all came out of their cocoons.


 


Arts الفنون:
-       - Students worked on painting the props they are going to hold while singing on the stage for the end of year celebration. Three more days to go!

- End of year celebration (June 24).
- Report Cards (June 25).
- Early release for students 12:00 pm on June 25.

Latest Updates (June 4- 12)


Theme: Ramadan رمضان

"شهر رمضان الذي أنزل فيه القرآن هدى للناس وبينات من الهدى والفرقان فمن شهد منكم الشهر فليصمه..." (سورة البقرة آية 185)

" The month of Ramadan is that in which the Quran was revealed, a guidance to men and clear proofs of the guidance and the distinction; therefore whoever of you is present in the month, he shall fast therein ..." (Albaqara 185)


Arabic Language اللغة العربية و التربية الإسلامية and Islamic Studies:
- We started discussing the importance of the month of Ramadan to Muslims, and the things Muslims should do during this holy month.
- Students learned the nasheed نُحِبُ رمضان tanslated from the English version to the nasheed below:

- Students are getting prepared for the end of year celebration.

Science العلوم:
-    Our little tiny caterpillars are full grown butterflies now! Many painted- Lady butterflies emerged from their cocoons and started flying inside of the fabric cage, SuabhanAllah!

- Students were so excited when they took their plants home today!

Math الحساب:
-  We reviewed our 2 dimensional shapes unit by playing a 2D Bingo game. Students LOVED the game, Alhamdulilah.

Health and Physical activity الصحة والرياضة:
-       - Jazahu Allahu Khyran Brother Adel for blowing the big jumping bubble for our students to play with. They had so much fun, Alhamdulilah.


Arts الفنون:
-       - Students made هـ هدية as a craft for the letter هـ.
 - Students made فانوس رمضان (Ramadan Lantern) and decorated it with beads.
- Our art table is now reopened for free arts and crafts. Students showed some great talents, Masha'Allah!

Latest Updates (May 25- June 4)


Mini Theme (Planting and bugs) الزراعة والحشرات

And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat.

Arabic Language اللغة العربية:
- Students have been listening to a variety of stories related to our mini theme.
-  We are done with the letters ن  and هـ (نرمين، نجوى، نورة، نحلة، نخلة، نمر، نار، نملة) ، (هبة، هند، هلال، هرم، هدهد، هاتف، هدية).
- Jazakum Allahu Khyran Tr. Sahar and Grade 3 students for being our awesome Arabic reading buddies. Masha’Allah, the Grade 3s act like teachers trying to make reading fun for the JKs. They read with different tones of voices, ask comprehension questions, and check for understanding. Way to go grade 3!

Science العلوم:
-    Our little tiny caterpillars are now sleeping in their cocoons. How amazing it is for our students observing the transformation of the little caterpillar turning into a big one, then crawling its way up to the top, gluing itself, then starting to cover itself in the cocoon. Subhan Allah Al Azeem!



- Planting grass was fun! Students learned some new Arabic vocabulary trying to plant in their cups. We had 3 stations:
1- Putting the soil (الطين)inside the cup. 
2- Adding the seeds (البُذور) on top of the soil.
3- Spray some water.

  


Math الحساب:
-  Finished our patters unit. Students should be able to read, complete and make simple patterns by now. Ask your child to draw a pattern or make it with blocks, kitchen utensils, socks...etc. 

Health and Physical activity الصحة والرياضة:
-          A very big Jazakum Allahu Khyran to all the teachers, staff, and parents who volunteered during the Bike Rodeo and help making it successful. It was very well organized, Alhamdulilah!



Arts الفنون:
-          Dress up like a professional day was fun. We discovered some great engineers, artists, doctors, teachers, and even school principals in our classrooms, Masha’Allah!


- We discovered some great talents in painting and drawing on the sand in our class, Masha'Allah!



Extra Activities أنشطة إضافية:
- Jazakum Allahu Khyran to all the parents who contributed to the Family Fun Potluck dinner last Thursday. I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for coming!

This is just a reminder to please return your child's Abraar Library book(s) this week, inshaAllah. It is crucial that all the books be return to facilitate our scheduled inventory and to prepare for next September, inshaAllah.
