Weekly Update (Oct. 19-23)

All About Me كل شيء عني


Language and Islamic Studies: اللغة العربية والتربية الإسلامية
- We learned about loving one's parents (Showing them love, helping them with  house chores etc...).
- We have been reading some interesting books ( الدودة الجائعة جداً، نبتتي في أسبوع، هل رأيت أحرفي ).
- We finished identifying, tracing, and making the crafts for the letter Taa' ت

(تالية ، تمر، تفاح، توت، تمساح، تاج، تسبيح).
 

- We visited the computer lab for the first time.
- We are still working on our fine motor skills.
 

Arts and Crafts الفنون والأعمال اليدوية + Science العلوم:
- We have been talking about the Autumn season through reading stories and observing leaves which fell to the ground. We made our 3 in 1 craft. Students were able to color the tree with markers, match the leaves to their correct place, paste them, and paint their hands using fall colors representing the leaves. Students were listening to the nasheed below while they were working on their craft:

- We are almost finishing working on our ت تسبيح craft. Students glued pompoms to make a Tasbeeh Chain.

Physical Activity الرياضة:
- Exercising, exploring different types of balls, and playing with gym toys are different things students have been doing in the gym.







Notes:
- Please note that we get our students ready everyday before dismissal time except for Monday, because the last period is Quran and we do not want our students to miss it.

- The last period on Tuesday is computer lab. Please make sure to pick your child up from their.

- Show and tell will start in November. An e-mail regarding that will follow.

Weekly Updates (Oct 13- 16)

Theme (All about Me) كل شيء عني




هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ ثُمَّ مِنْ عَلَقَةٍ ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُكُمْ طِفْلًا ثُمَّ لِتَبْلُغُوا أَشُدَّكُمْ ثُمَّ لِتَكُونُوا شُيُوخًا وَمِنكُم مَّن يُتَوَفَّى مِن قَبْلُ وَلِتَبْلُغُوا أَجَلًا مُّسَمًّى وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
It is He Who has created you from dust then from a sperm-drop, then from a leech-like clot; then does he get you out (into the light) as a child: then lets you (grow and) reach your age of full strength; then lets you become old,- though of you there are some who die before;- and lets you reach a term appointed; in order that you may learn wisdom.” [40:67]
Language and Islamic Studies: اللغة العربية والتربية الإسلامية

- We learned about greetings in Islam " Assalamu Alikum" and read about it from our Islamic Studies book (All about Islam).
- We have been reading some interesting books ( الطقس، نعيماً يا نعامة، أين جاد؟، كل شيء عني، الحشرة الغاضبة ).
- We finished identifying, tracing, and making the crafts for the letters أ and ب.


- It is amazing how many students know how to read their names now. We will start practicing name writing soon, Insha'Allah!


Arts and Crafts الفنون والأعمال اليدوية:
- Students love for painting is indescribable! We helped them mix the painting colors in the middle of a construction paper, folded it in a half, pressed on it, and opened it to see what pictures was made with the colors. We asked students to use their imagination and tell us what they see, we recorded their answers on the papers, and hanged them on our bulletin boards. Please take the time to look at them!



Mathالحساب:
- We learned about the circle shape الدائرة.  Some students looked around the classroom for circles, some made the shape  with parts of their bodies, others drew it on the flip chart board.
- Students traced the دوائر on um Salih's hair ( A funny character in our math book).
- Students sang the دائرة song : 

د د دائرة ، حلوة جميلة مُدَوَّرة


Science العلوم:
- We talked about the Autumn season and asked students what they are noticing changing in the weather around them. A picture was drawn as they were explaining... Rain, leaves changing colors, mud puddles, chilly/cold weather. 
- Students were asked to take a ziplock bag on their way out to recess to try and find different leaves colors to take them home. They did a great job, Masha'Allah!


Notes:
- Please be notified that we have a nut allergy case in our classroom. Sesame is a nut that the student is allergic to. Please avoid sending sesame bread to school. 

- Some parents are very strict when it comes to letting their children watch YouTube videos. If you would like your child to watch what you only want them to watch, you can download the videos by doing one small and simple trick:
1- Search the video.
2- Pause it.
3- Type ss before the word YouTube. like this: www.ssyoutube.com
4- Press download and enjoy!

- A very big Jazakum Allahu Khyran to all the parents who showed up at the potluck event last Friday and for all your food contributions. I hope you had fun! Please do give us some feedback if you think the event would have done differently.

Weekly Update (Sep.28 - Oct. 8)

Theme (All about Me) كل شيء عني


وقال - تعالى -: ﴿ هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ مِنْ تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ مِنْ نُطْفَةٍ ثُمَّ مِنْ عَلَقَةٍ ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُكُمْ طِفْلًا ثُمَّ لِتَبْلُغُوا أَشُدَّكُمْ ثُمَّ لِتَكُونُوا شُيُوخًا وَمِنْكُمْ مَنْ يُتَوَفَّى مِنْ قَبْلُ وَلِتَبْلُغُوا أَجَلًا مُسَمًّى وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ ﴾ [غافر: 67].

It is He who created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot; then He brings you out as a child; then [He develops you] that you reach your [time of] maturity, then [further] that you become elders. And among you is he who is taken in death before [that], so that you reach a specified term; and perhaps you will use reason.

Language and Islamic Studies: اللغة العربية والتربية الإسلامية

- We have been practicing reciting the monthly Duaa.
- The students are learning more educational/Islamic nasheeds.
- We have been reading some interesting books (أنا أيضاً أريد, No more hitting, something from nothing, أنا أستطيع، الله يحبني).
- We have been practicing saying some sentences about one's self (Ana Ismee أنا إسمي...., Ana Muslimum Saeedأنا مسلم\ة سعيد\ة Umri arb3 4 sanawat عمري أربع 4 سنوات).
- Students learned the first 2 letters of the Arabic Alphabets, Alif أ ( Allah الله, Arnab أرنب, Asaad أسد, Ananasأناناس), and only read the story of the letter Baa'  ( بيت Bait، بطة،Baqara بقرة،  Baidبيض،  Batteekh برتقال Burtuqaal، بطيخBatteekh). We will be covering the letters in details next week, Insha'Alalh.

- Our Eid Celebration Field Trip to Midway was a lot of fun. For parents who volunteered that day, please share the pictures you took with me!
- Students participated in the school's October character assembly ' Cooperation'.


Outdoor Play اللعب في الخارج:
- We are trying our best to make school time a fun time. Students had fun experiencing:
- Playing with the big parachute.
- Finding sea shells that teachers hid in the sand.
- Visiting the City park that is right next to the school.


Arts and Crafts الفنون والأعمال اليدوية:
- Students learned about the primary colors (A7mar, Asfar, Azraq).
- We made the letter Alif Craft (Alif Asad).
- Students had fun playing with shaving cream, and food coloring to strengthen their fine motor skills.


English اللغة الإنجليزية:
- Tr. Hiat taught the letter Aa and made an A apple craft with tissue papers and glue sticks.

Quran القرآن:
- There has been a change in the school's daily schedule. Tr. Ibtisam is no longer our Quran teacher. Please welcome Tr. Nisreen. She will be our Quran teacher for this year, Insha'Allah.
- One activity teacher Nisreen did to explain the meaning of Surat Alfatiha is she brought a robe and made the students walk on it as Assirata Almustaqeem الصراط المستقيم, and made them carry a basket on their heads full of items (Good deeds or bad deeds items) to see which ones will help the person holding it make it to Jannah.

French اللغة الفرنسية:
- Tr. Said taught the letter A and helped the students match and color some worksheets while teaching french vocabulary.

Mathالحساب:
- Students learned the number 1 واحد. Allah is 1 الله واحد.
- Students are being taught how to read the Hijri Calendar. Please check the links below to the days of the week, and months in Islam's Nasheeds we sing in class.
