Weekly Update (January 11-15)

New Theme: Winter

Language and Islamic Studies: اللغة العربية والتربية الإسلامية
- We started using the honesty sticker sheets.
- The students are starting to produce a sentence or two during their show and tell presentations!
- "بيتي" handmade booklets were colored and sent home.
- Pyjama Day was a great fun. The students had the chance to play games in the classroom, listen to the story " استيقظي يا سارة" (One of Robert Munsch's translated to Arabic story book) while they were sleeping on their pillows on the carpet, they shared the yummy treats the parents brought, and played finding the sleepy bear game in the gym while the lights were off.

- We learned the new letter  ز (زعتر، زيت، زيتون،زرافة، زهرة، زين، زيد) . This letter was a special one as we introduced the students to زيت، زعتر and زيتون (Olive Oil, Zaatar (Thyme), and organic Green Olives). Most of the students loved the taste of the olive oil with the zaatar and green olives. This can be a good snack/lunch for your little one!

- The students also traced the letter on their booklets that were sent home.

Arts and Crafts الفنون والأعمال اليدوية:
- There were two extremely cold days last week. The students were kept indoors for recess. Some students were frustrated with the idea. We had them make their own stress balls in order for them to release some on that frustration. The students loved the idea!

- The students made the letter ز زرافة craft.

Math: الرياضيات:
- We learned how to count and read the numbers 1-5 that match the groups (one-to-one correspondence).

English: اللغة الإنجليزية:
- JAK teacher Hiat for teaching the students the letters A-K with the stories and actions. It is always fun to watch Tr. Hiat teach the Alphabetletters.
- So many interesting story books have been read to the students. Robert Munsch's " Pyjama Day" was read to them during our Pyjama Day.

Quran: القرآن:
- Al-Kawthar is a river in Jannah and it is the name of the surah the students are learning now. Thank you Tr. Nisreen for helping the students picture how the river looks like by making them color a picture of a river.

Notes and reminders:
- Jazakum Allahu Khyran to all the parents who brought healthy and yummy treats to share on our Pyjama Day.- Please remember to send a theme related item for show and tell.
- Please remember to send your child dressed appropriately for the cold weather.
-  Please note that Friday January 22 is a PD Day. No school for students.

Jazakum Allahu Khyran!
